Daily Find – Shadrack by Norman Brooks – Uptempo Soul Gospel 45 on S&N

Daily Discovery - Shadrack b/w His Eye On The Sparrow by Norman Brooks - Uptempo Gospel 45 on S&N Records #1701

The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is a new one on me. A cool story that sounds even better when set to some funky organ, guitar and a simple uptempo light drum beat. The rise and fall of smooth vocals that can really be heard when the break comes 3/4 of the way through the song. Gospel sweet Gospel with a touch of Soul.

Daily Find – When My Baby Cries by Sunny & The Sunliners – Chicano Soul

Daily Discovery - When My Baby Cries b/w Saving My Love For You by Sunny & The Sunliners - Chicano Soul on Key-Loc Records #1038

I don't know this Sunny Ozuna record that well, but I like it. His raspy voice is so recognizable. A Texas Soul gem that should start getting play in the steady growing underground Chicano Soul circle.

Daily Find – Somebody Needs You by Ike & Tina Turner – Northern Soul 45

Daily Discovery - Somebody Needs You b/w (I'll Do Anything) Just To Be With You by Ike & Tina Turner - Northern Soul 45 on Loma Records #2015

From the first second I heard this tune I knew it was going to be amazing. This record has the same backing track as "Go For Yourself" by Larry Laster from the same label, which is an absolute dance floor filler with some meaning. It's a true masterpiece musically and the positive message in lyrics just makes it that much better. This record leaves me feeling a little taller after listening to it. No matter how you feel or what you have been through does not matter because "Somebody Needs You". You can always help someone else even if you feel you can't help yourself. It might have an even deeper meaning knowing that these words are coming from Tina Turner, who thank God never gave up on herself and in turn has helped many others over the years. Remember YOU are always important!

Daily Find – Snake Bite by The Life – Garage Punk 45

Daily Discovery - Snake Bite b/w One O'Clock Noon Time by The Life - Garage Punk 45 on Hi Records #2138

Late 60's early 70's record that really surprised me because its on the Hi label which I always thought of as a soul label. The Hi label boasts legends like Al Green, Syl Johnson, Willie Mitchell and others. This is a nice double sider that with some funky soul influences.

Daily Find – Hey Love by Mr. Clean & The Soul Inc. – Rare Group Sweet Soul 45 on Radio City

Daily Discovery - Hey Love by Mr. Clean & The Soul Inc. - Rare Group Sweet Soul 45 on Radio City #500. Flip side "I Bet He Don't Love You"

Extremely rare record from San Diego California. This is the same Radio City label that Rosey Grier's New Yorkers Northern Soul classic was released on. Both sides on this record are Group Soul gold with an incredible cover of the Intruders, "I Bet He Don't Love You" and "Hey Love" which I originally thought was a cover of the Stevie Wonder classic but turned out to be very different upon listening again. "Hey Love" is a cover of the song originally sung by the Rotary Connection and was written by Charles Stepney and Richard Rudolph.

Daily Find – Shadows by Bob Thiele Mysterious Flying Orchestra – Funky Jazz Lp

Daily Discovery - Shadows by Bob Thiele Mysterious Flying Orchestra - Funky Jazz Lp on RCA #2137.

Side One songs - Improvisational Rondo For Saxaphone And Guitar - Shadows - A Dream Deferred
Side Two songs - Summer Days - There Once Was A Man Named John - Nice 'N Spicy

As soon as the needle hit this record I knew that this had to be sampled. Turns out the genius rapper, the late Guru and his team had already done so in 2003 on his song "Skills". Lonnie Liston Smith and many other artists were a part of this musical masterpiece and it was arranged by a man who seems to appear on a lot of songs I really enjoy, Horace Ott. The type of Lp that I can listen to in a sitting from start to finish.

Daily Find – I’m On My Way To Saturday by Harry Belafonte – The Many Moods of Lp

Daily Discovery - I'm On My Way To Saturday by Harry Belafonte - The Many Moods of Lp on RCA Victor #2574. This is dedicated to my friends who look forward to the weekend when the week has just begun. I never thought I would have a Harry Belafonte record on my turntable, let alone share one of his songs on my site but this one was too good to pass up. I share this on a Wednesday for my friends who can't enjoy their moment in time and look forward to "life" when life is staring them in the face. Some other good songs on this Lp are Zombie Jamboree - Dark As A Dungeon - Tongue Tie Baby - Who's Gonna Be Your Man - Bamotsweri - Betty An' Dupree. Cheers!

Daily Discovery - Legend Of The Ghost Stage by Fred Darian - Ghost R&R Rockabilly 45 on JAF Records #2020. Flip side is a war record "Battle Of Gettysburg". Death & Distruction, Ghosts and War, makes for a great double sided Rockabilly record.
