Daily Find – Lovely Is Today by Eddie Harris & His Electric Saxaphone – Plug Me In Lp Funk Jazz

Daily Discovery - Lovely Is Today by Eddie Harris & His Electric Saxaphone - Plug Me In Lp Funk Jazz on Atlantic #1506. 60's Funky Jazz.

Side One songs - Live Right Now - It's Crazy - Ballad (For My Love)
Side Two songs - Lovely Is Today - Theme In Search Of A T.V. Commercial - Winter Meeting

Another gem that Guru and crew from Gang Starr sampled on their song 2 Deep from the Daily Operation album. I've been on a funky jazz kick lately and this is right up my alley. The drums kick hard on so many of the songs so I had to look who played them and I come to find out there's two drummers, Grady Tate or Richard Smith. I am familiar with Grady's sound but not Richard's who does a fantastic job on the session as well. Funky album from start to finish.

Daily Find – Shadows by Bob Thiele Mysterious Flying Orchestra – Funky Jazz Lp

Daily Discovery - Shadows by Bob Thiele Mysterious Flying Orchestra - Funky Jazz Lp on RCA #2137.

Side One songs - Improvisational Rondo For Saxaphone And Guitar - Shadows - A Dream Deferred
Side Two songs - Summer Days - There Once Was A Man Named John - Nice 'N Spicy

As soon as the needle hit this record I knew that this had to be sampled. Turns out the genius rapper, the late Guru and his team had already done so in 2003 on his song "Skills". Lonnie Liston Smith and many other artists were a part of this musical masterpiece and it was arranged by a man who seems to appear on a lot of songs I really enjoy, Horace Ott. The type of Lp that I can listen to in a sitting from start to finish.

You hear break beats, the JB's announcer, some funky middle eastern style horn in the middle, background singers, tempo changes, and of course Lyn's deep soul vocals.

Daily Find – Help I’m A Rock by Mothers Of Invention

Daily Discovery - Help I'm A Rock by Mothers Of Invention. This is from "Freak Out" their debut album. Frank Zappa and his group. Psychedelic Rock at its best! Funky, freaky, disturbing, odd but you can't help but be pulled into trying to figure out this 8+ minute track off this double LP. The wide ranges of genres Frank uses on this masterpiece include but are not exclusively from R&B, Doowop, Blues, Classical influences to what it is Progressive Rock, Psych Rock unlike any one else you have ever heard. If you have the opportunity to pick this or any other Mothers Of Invention Lp's up you would definitely enhance your collection.
