Super Funk! What is super funk? It kicks off with some piano and electric piano, a little wicki womp wah guitar, smooth but funky bass guitar and drums. Mix it up and you get super funk!

Daily Find – Bullitt by LOUIS JORDAN – Funk Jazz 45
Daily Discovery - Bullitt b/w What's On Your Mind by LOUIS JORDAN - Funk Jazz / Soul Dancer 45 on Pzazz Records #023
Another amazing record on the Los Angeles Jazz Soul label, Pzazz. I love their tag line, which is on the label, "Put some Pzazz in your Jazz". It's not surprising how good this is, especially after I realized it was arranged by the amazing Jazz master, Teddy Edwards. I think almost everything on this label is worth giving a listen to. Happy hunting!
Daily Find – Stormy by James Dallas – LIFE FORMS – Funk Jazz Lp
Daily Discovery - Stormy by James Dallas - Funk Jazz Lp on JDMB #8 31
Found this yesterday and I had to share it with you. It's a killer Funk Jazz record! Beat or break junkies what are you waiting for? This is a must have for Dj's! Funky drum beats, killer guitars, sax's, Rhodes piano, flutes, & congas. I had to come hard today because I haven't been posting lately, so enjoy! James Dallas & band, hail from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
I was contacted by Rick Lacy, who played guitar on "Syndrome" from this Lp. Rick, thank you so much for reaching out to me and filling me in on your contribution to this amazing Jazz Lp. I posted the sound clip for this song just for you!

Daily Find – Greasy Greens by Lionel Hampton & His Inner Circle Of Jazz- Funk Jazz 45
Daily Discovery - Greasy Greens b/w Sunshine Superman by Lionel Hampton & His Inner Circle Of Jazz - Funk Jazz 45 on Glad-Hamp Records #2038
Killer double sider that can be spun at a Funk or and Northern (Mod) Soul night. A DJ's must have! There are no words to skew your view, just a beat that will get you moving no matter which side you choose to play. That is the beauty of instrumentals, it's your choice how they make you feel.
Daily Find – I Shot The Sheriff b/w Do It Baby by Isaac Redd Holt Unlimited – Funk Jazz 45
Daily Discovery - I Shot The Sheriff b/w Do It Baby by Isaac Redd Holt Unlimited - Funk Jazz 45 on Paula Records #412
This is a funky jazz version of the Bob Marley classic "I Shot The Sheriff" with some short drum breaks, fuzz guitars and even a talk box at the end. "Do It Baby" comes in with a hard bass line that was sampled on one of my favorite songs by KRS ONE, "Why Is That?". Just a funky record all the way around, there's no denying it.
Daily Find – Lovely Is Today by Eddie Harris & His Electric Saxaphone – Plug Me In Lp Funk Jazz
Daily Discovery - Lovely Is Today by Eddie Harris & His Electric Saxaphone - Plug Me In Lp Funk Jazz on Atlantic #1506. 60's Funky Jazz.
Side One songs - Live Right Now - It's Crazy - Ballad (For My Love)
Side Two songs - Lovely Is Today - Theme In Search Of A T.V. Commercial - Winter Meeting
Another gem that Guru and crew from Gang Starr sampled on their song 2 Deep from the Daily Operation album. I've been on a funky jazz kick lately and this is right up my alley. The drums kick hard on so many of the songs so I had to look who played them and I come to find out there's two drummers, Grady Tate or Richard Smith. I am familiar with Grady's sound but not Richard's who does a fantastic job on the session as well. Funky album from start to finish.
