Daily Find – Power Of Love by STAPLE SINGERS Northern Soul b/w Funk 45
Daily Discovery - Power Of Love b/w Let's Get Together by STAPLE SINGERS Northern Soul b/w Funk 45 on Epic Records #10294
A little known Northern Soul dancer that gets the crowd moving. It's a sleeper because most people think of Gospel when they hear it's by the Staple Singers. This one creeps up on your soul and gets your heart pumping. From the same group that brought you the smash hit "I'll Take You There". Feel the power!

This is dedicated to one of my mentors Stephen Tisdale from Vinylshuffle.com. Tis, you have made such a difference in my life and I will forever be grateful to you! When I saw this title, I knew I would use it as a moment to acknowledge you for the contribution you have made in my life and others lives as well. It had to be a Daily Discovery! As I told you before, Tis, you are the man! Keep it funky and keep it on the ONE! Thank you! Peace, Love & Possibilities, Robert Rodriguez

Killer double sider that can be spun at a Funk or and Northern (Mod) Soul night. A DJ's must have! There are no words to skew your view, just a beat that will get you moving no matter which side you choose to play. That is the beauty of instrumentals, it's your choice how they make you feel.
Daily Find – The Skate by THE LARKS – Northern Soul 45
Daily Discovery - The Skate b/w Come Back Baby by THE LARKS - Northern Soul 45 on Money Records #127
The Larks (aka The Meadowlarks) are a classic Los Angeles Soul group led by Don Julian. He is my favorite Los Angeles soul singer and I could have chosen any song to showcase him, he is that good! Amazing singer from the 50's and even was a part of music into the 90's when he collaborated with Too Short on his album Shorty The Pimp, which sampled Don Julian's song of the same title. An influential singer/writer/producer from his early days until his death in the late 1990's. I was lucky enough to speak to him on a call in show put on by the Doo Wop Society in the late 80's. I felt privileged and honored to speak to this Doowop, R&B, Soul, Funk legend before his passing.
Daily Find – I Shot The Sheriff b/w Do It Baby by Isaac Redd Holt Unlimited – Funk Jazz 45
Daily Discovery - I Shot The Sheriff b/w Do It Baby by Isaac Redd Holt Unlimited - Funk Jazz 45 on Paula Records #412
This is a funky jazz version of the Bob Marley classic "I Shot The Sheriff" with some short drum breaks, fuzz guitars and even a talk box at the end. "Do It Baby" comes in with a hard bass line that was sampled on one of my favorite songs by KRS ONE, "Why Is That?". Just a funky record all the way around, there's no denying it.
Daily Find – The Queen Of Sheba by Floyd Dixon – Funk 45
Daily Discovery - The Queen Of Sheba b/w Hot Licks by Floyd Dixon - Funk 45 on Inculcation Records #47191
Mellow but funky, sought after and tough to find Los Angeles Funk / Modern Soul record. Has a primitive sound to it, which is what I like about it. Even though it's over 5 minutes long it doesn't drag, which is more than you can say for a lot of songs of the same length. Enjoy this tune with middle east feel to it and escape to ancient Egypt for a few minutes at least.
