Daily Find – Soul Train by Aces Of Soul – Funk Soul 45

Daily Discovery - Soul Train b/w Go 'Head On by Aces Of Soul - Funk Soul 45 on TRC Texas Record Company # #2084

Cow bells, a funky bass line, mellow but raw vocals, horns that sound like a train is coming. What pops and crackles? This song gets me in the zone, and I find myself transported back in time to a club in Waco Texas, where this was recorded. A band groovin', the crowd movin', sweat drippin', a dance floor packed with bodies movin' in a train like motion. I just got chills running up my spine picturing what an Aces Of Soul show would have been like. Did they ever do local shows? The world may never know!

Daily Find – Disco Rambunction by Rambunction – Funk 45

Daily Discovery - Disco Rambunction by Rambunction - Funk 45 on Square Records no #

Don't let the title fool you, it's NOT disco, this is killer funk. I noticed other people saying that this is Texas Funk I don't know if it is, but I will say it's big funk! It also seems to be a recent discovery to a handful of dj's in the last year or so. A nice party groove!

Daily Find – Santa Claus Wants Some Loving by Creeper – Funk Soul Christmas 45

Daily Discovery - Santa Claus Wants Some Loving by Creeper - Funk Soul Christmas 45 on ABC (HBS, Hot Buttered Soul) Records #12147

Another odd Christmas funk record. I'm not sure if Creeper is the Ohio Players, but if it's not them, they definitely have me fooled. As far as I know they only recorded this single. I know for a fact that it's an Isaac Hayes production being that it's on Hot Buttered Soul Recording Company.
"Mama's in the kitchen cookin', the children upstairs asleep. It's time for old Santa Claus to make his midnight creep, cuz Santa Claus wants some loving". "Now Christmas is for the children, and I sho' want them to be pleased, but right now mama is Christmas leisure, make me, make me, make me, make me, make me, happy!". It seems that Santa Claus has more on his mind than just his deliveries tonight. Santa break it on down!

Daily Find – What Will Tomorrow Bring by Waymond Hall – Crossover Soul Funk 45

Daily Discovery - What Will Tomorrow Bring by Waymond Hall b/w Soul-Funk-Tion (instrumental) by The Apollos - Crossover Funk 45 on Jamal Records #1005

Funk to the fullest! A Northern California, Stockton to be exact, funk phenomena. Yes, this copy is rough but it's tough to find in any condition. Horns start off this mysterious sounding tune about the future. "What will tomorrow bring if I could look in the future and see you and me", I don't think Waymond is the only person in the world that wishes that he could look into the future. Funky guitars, funky flutes, funky drums. Enjoy this symphony of heart pounding sound.

Daily Find – Journey Into Nigritia by Nate Morgan – Jazz Funk Lp

Daily Discovery - Journey Into Nigritia by Nate Morgan - Jazz Funk Lp on Nimbus Recording Company #3257

I'm loving this Jazz Funk Lp out of Santa Barbara, California. Which is about an hour and a half to two hours northwest of Los Angeles. I almost don't even care that this record has a major warp because 5 out of 6 songs still play! This is the kind of jazz that I can really get into. Moments of flow but no long term flow, just a mash up of creative moments in time. It gets me in the mood to create! It takes the sometimes linear thoughts that I have and throws them for a loop, allowing for some real creativity to come up for me. Like writing poetry or putting random thoughts down on paper to later create a work that has yet to be formulated. If I'm feeling really bold, it makes me want to make art! What does this inspire you to create? Please share!

Lp name - Journey Into Nigritia

Songs side 1 - Mrafu - Morning Prayer - Mother
Songs Side 2 - Journey Into Nigritia - He Left Us A Song - Study In C.T.

Daily Find – That Was Yesterday by Primbrock Skiggs – Northern Soul b/w Funk 45

Daily Discovery - That Was Yesterday b/w Wake Up by Primbrock Skiggs - Northern Soul b/w Funk 45 on Pzazz Records #049

Here I go again, sharing an amazing record on the Los Angeles Soul/Jazz label, Pzazz. The guitar hook grabbed me right away then the powerful vocals and horns to match. Yes! I'm talking about the Northern Soul tune, "That Was Yesterday". "Wake Up" is killer, again little known, Funk record with a message. The message? Listen and you will hear the same thing you may be thinking our world is going through currently. As much as things change, things remain the same.
